Introduction to Paediatric Manual Medicine: A Structural Approach
This course is not to be missed by manual medicine practitioners intent on furthering their knowledge and expertise in the field. We are extremely fortunate to welcome Dr Lisa DeStefano here to teach this course. It is usually taught exclusively at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where Dr Lisa DeStefano is the Chairperson and Associate Professor of the Department of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
In this course, we will approach infant development from the perspective of three integrated systems; visual, vestibular and somatosensory. We will touch on diagnoses such as developmental delay, motor impairments, musculoskeletal dysfunction, altered nervous system processing, somatic dysfunction, and sensory integration difficulties. In the process, we will treat plagiocephaly, torticollis, various shoulder and pelvic girdle dysfunctions as well as autonomic nervous system alterations.
