DESCRIPTION:
We believe our 100-hour Certification in Myofascial Dry Needling is unparalleled in quality, depth and application of Dry Needling.
Manual Medicine Australasia has been an integral part of the educational landscape in the safe and effective method of Myofascial Dry Needling. We were amongst the very first to offer courses specialising in dry needling to manual medicine practitioners. Over the past 8 years, we have taught thousands of students across Australia and Asia. While Level 1 and 2 provides an extremely strong foundation and the technical proficiency required to effectively apply these techniques in practice, an extended certification will provide a broader and more in-depth knowledge base for practitioners who wish to incorporate Dry Needling into their treatments as one of their core modalities.
Skill in the application of dry needling requires expert training and consistent practice. The experienced clinician must be well versed in all aspects and exposed to a variety of approaches and techniques. Ongoing clinical applications are crucial in developing above average palpatory skill, diagnostic ability and needling technique.
Through this carefully assembled program, the student is guided on a journey that will build upon the fundamentals and accelerate technical proficiency and clinical reasoning.
CERTIFICATION OVERVIEW:
Level 1 Fundamentals of Myofascial Dry Needling & Cupping (20 hours)
The fundamentals of safe needling are introduced. Students learn the foundations of safe needling practice and basic insertion techniques. (Please refer to the course guide for further information)
Level 2 Advanced Myofascial Dry Needling & Electrotherapy (20 hours) - *Prerequisites Level 1 or equivalent
Level 2 reviews concepts learnt in Level 1 and introduces advanced needling techniques and areas such as the head, neck and face as well as anterior and lateral chest. The application of electrotherapy is also taught. We then focus on common clinical presentation and treatment protocols.
Level 3 Clinical Integration of Myofascial Dry Needling (60 hours) - *Prerequisites Level 1 and 2
Our level 3 course builds upon Level 1 and 2 and comprises 4 modules of 8 hours each. Each module will explore and specialise in their respective areas of the body more thoroughly and in-depth than time allows in Level 1 and 2. Each module will cover surface anatomy and palpation, motor points, and muscle/orthopedic/neurological testing. These modules can be taken individually or as part of the certification.
Module 1: Upper limb (8 hours)
Module 2: Lower Limb (8 hours)
Module 3: Head and Neck (8 hours)
Module 4: Spine (8 hours)
Online Module: (8 hours)
The Online Module will consist of the necessary pre-reading, quizzes and test exams that are required for each of the 4 modules. This will equip the practitioner with the theoretical
knowledge and confidence required to participate in the practical module.
Clinical Practice and Portfolio: (20 hours)
For successful completion of the certification, students must submit 5 clinical case studies as part of their portfolio on each of the topics in Modules 1-4. Students will have 6 months from the end of the Level 3 course to submit these cases for assessment and review. A template and guideline will be made available and each case will count as 1 hr (Clinical application and write up of the case will be allocated 20 hours).
Total hours of Certification: 100 hours
Please note:
Level 1 and 2, and modules 1-4, are stand alone courses that can be taken individually.
Level 1 or equivalent is a prerequisite for Level 2, module 1, 2, and 4.
Level 1 and 2 is a prerequisite for module 3.
Required Text: Syllabus will be provided onsite prior to or at the beginning of each individual course/module.
Course times: Each individual course/module usually runs from 9am-5pm or thereabouts, over 1-3 days. Please refer to our website for course/module timings. The certification must be completed within a 2 year period.
